A great name indeed, but let us tell you about a very special man as he’s unique and deserves wider recognition.
Bernie Hollywood is a one-man charity fundraising machine. For a quarter of a century he has selflessly devoted his time, energy and body to others.
But this year will be his last. After 25 years he has decided to go out on a high.
In December he will set off on his most dangerous challenge — a solo trek to the South Pole
His build up this year [2010] is in itself breathtaking and yet amazing:
APRIL - He’s running the Virgin London Marathon to break the world record for carrying the tallest costume/structure on his shoulders over 17ft tall & raise funding for the British Heart Foundation.
MAY - He’s bringing over 50 people to trek Hadrian’s Wall on behalf of SportsAid to raise funding for future Olympic athletes.
JUNE- He’s completing The Wallace & Gromit Children’s Foundation Awareness Tour, a 7-day tour of UK Children’s Hospice to present each with a funding cheque and for the children to meet Wallace & Gromit!
JULY - He’s completing The Barnardo’s Tour of Inspiration, a 7-day tour that will bring the Olympic experience to under privilege children through the UK.
AUG - He’s bringing over 100 people together to take part and complete in the London Triathlon to raise funds for Sports Aid.
DEC – He’s appearing as Wallace at the Winter Wonderland experience supporting Children UK Hospices.
DEC/ JAN - He’s trekking unsupported to Geographic South Pole the Big One to raise £250,000 for The Wonderland Trust.
APR 2011 - He’s cycling from the UK to Africa a total of 1800 miles to raise funds for the Maasi Preservation Trust.
By day he works in the infamous world of banking – by night he drives himself to unparalleled extremes in the name of charity.
